Safaricom
Symphony supplied, installed and configured Sun and IBM servers, and Sun storage systems. These systems are used to run various telecom applications at Safaricom. We also provide ongoing maintenance for these systems, ensuring that they are up and running optimally.
Kenya Power and Lighting Company
Kenya Power & Lighting company, with over 1000 staff, required new PCs to run business and office productivity applications. They chose Symphony to supply, install and commissioning the computers and related peripherals, including Warranty Service and maintenance.
De La Rue Currency & Security Print Ltd
As a currency & security printer, De La Rue required a hardware infrastructure that was stable and highly secure to run their own security software. They selected Symphony to carry out ICT consultancy to identify appropriate systems, to supply, Install and commission the computers, servers and racks, and to carry out warranty service and maintenance. IBM servers were chosen because of their reliable data security and management features. Symphony also provided server administration training to De La Rue's administrators.
Co-operative Bank of Kenya
To ensure that its extensive network of automated teller machines operate 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, Co-operative Bank of Kenya chose Symphony to supply, install and commission the General Electric (GE) Netpro 3000 Series – a 3kVA online uninterruptible power supply (UPS) system that offers the highest level of power protection against blackouts, brownouts, over and/or under voltage and line-transients. We also provide maintenance services.
Kenya Commercial Bank
In support of its vast network of branches and ATMs across the region, and also its relationships with correspondent banks around the world, KCB maintains one of the largest datacenters in the country. To ensure reliability and system availiabilty of more than 99.99%, KCB chose Symphony to install a UPS implementing GE’s unique Redundant Parallel Architecture (RPA), with no single point of failure. Since the implementation of the redundant system, KCB’s central database has never gone down as a result power problems.
Sameer Group
Symphony supplied, installed and configured Sun and IBM Servers, and Sun storage systems at Sameer group. Sameer Group is a diversified business group, and these servers and systems are used to run various business applications. On an ongoing basis, Symphony provides maintenance services for this equipment, ensuring that they continue to run optimally.
United Nations Office in Nairobi
We supplied, installed and configured Sun and storage systems at the United Nations Office in Africa. These systems are used to run various business applications. Symphony also provides maintenance services for the systems, ensuring that they are always available and running optimally.
Total Kenya Ltd
The project involved migration of Total Kenya's e-mail system from Microsoft Exchange, to Lotus Domino and Lotus Notes, for 7 depots and the Head office. This was done for about 170 users, and involved setting up and configuring the Domino server at the head office, from where the users at the depots could connect using the Wide Area Network. Symphony migrated the user data to Lotus Notes, and also conducted Lotus Domino Administrator training.
General Motors
Supplied and installed IBM X-Server on Microsoft Windows Advanced Server 2000 and MS SQL 2000 all supported by GE Victron UPS Units. Supplied and installed an IBM Netfinity 7100 and Lotus Notes On going maintenance support for IBM server and UPS units
AIG Kenya Insurance Company
AIG Kenya Insurance company required a server and rack solution that would support its database users 24 hours a day. IBM partnering with Symphony, provided a solution that has minimal down-time, unique remote server management and has a clear upgrade path in the event the company needs to accommodate sudden increase in online transactions. Symphony carried out ICT consultancy to identify appropriate systems, supplied, install and commissioned the servers and racks, and took on warranty service and maintenance.
The Walter Reed Project/KEMRI
The Walter Reed Project (WRP), in collaboration with the Kenya Medical Research Institute (KEMRI), operates several research centers in Kenya. WRP chose Symphony to supply, install and commission the GE Sitepro uninterruptible power supply (UPS) system for power protection at the National Influenza Centre in Nairobi and the HIV/AIDS Centre in Kisumu. These systems have ensured that fluctuations in electrical power do not affect ongoing experiments which involve very modern and expensive equipment.
